Where to stay in Ubud

Here are my top two secret addresses i would like to share with you. When looking for an accomodation in Ubud, you will find too many choices : big names, boutique hotels and villas, air bnb. I always look for a boutique hotel with balinese charms mix with modern touch for the comfort. If you are like me, then these two hotels might be right for you !

Ubud is definitely my favorite area in Bali. Although it is far from beaches, it is the right area to base yourself for at least 3 days and you can easily stay here for 6 nights. Coming from Paris, i love Ubud for the zenitude. Housing one of the most important rainforest in Indonesia, you will wake up to the sound of mother nature. Your surrounding is so peaceful you will immediately at ease. Your eyes will be spoiled with the greens coming from palm and coconut trees or immense paddy field, surrounding your hotel or your path.

Trust me, i am a bit reluctant to share my most precious finding in Ubud. After trying big names, cozy airbnb and smaller private hotel, Amora is on top of my list. For a very good price, you will get a private swimming pool, a beautifully designed room - mixing scandinavian feeling with balinese touch -, a nice breakfast (not a buffet though) and a perfect location, just at the end of the famous campuhan ridge walk.

Slightly more affordable than Amora, laid Ubud Heaven Panestanan. To enter the property, a golf car would have to pick you and your luggage from the "main road" as the street is not wide enough for a car. Your room is that dreamy with a private swimming pool overlooking paddy rice fields.

Those are my two favorites but i've stayed Kupu Kupu Barong L'Occitane as well. The top notch of staying in a big chain hotel is the abundant breakfast. The room in Kupu Kupu is nice too but you will have to pay an important amount for a room with a private pool.

If you are looking for air bnb, be careful. Ubud has many tiny paths in an already tiny road. You will easily find "eco air bnb", "jungle room" etc. Usually this means the property is somewhere in between those tiny roads and not easy to access.

Enjoy Ubud !
