Corfu Itinerary with a 2 years old toddler

To be honest, I don't know what to expect traveling in summer with a two-year-old.

To give some context about our travel style:

My daughter has been traveling to Bali since she was five months old, but Bali is home. We have family around and nice beach clubs with nice facilities.

My daughter still takes one nap during the day between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM for 2-3 hours. She usually goes to bed at 9 PM and wakes up between 7-7:30 AM.

I love being in the ocean and could spend my day just lying there. While my husband hates the heat and sand sticking to his sweaty body.

We both love to explore and would get bored spending the entire holiday at the hotel pool or the same beach.

We love boat trips and swimming in the open sea, but we know it might be complicated with a baby.

Without a child, we found a balance between fun and relaxation, comfort and adventure. Now, we need to find that balance again. Often, European beaches have little shade, no sunbeds, and require a lot of walking, which makes us a bit nervous.

We decided to stay in three towns: Corfu Town, Paleokastritsa, and Acharavi.

The first five days, we are on a discovery mode. We explored and finding our rhythm. The final three days, we were happy to just spend our days between our hotel and the beach.

Day 1: Corfu Town

Morning: Swam at Imabari Beach Bar. My daughter napped for one hour in her stroller.

Afternoon:Ice cream break at Loretto and strolled around the old town of Corfu.

Evening: Returned to Imabari Beach Club for a quick swim and a bite. Went to Kanoni Cafe to watch the sunset but left early due to mosquitoes.

This day was a test. The beach bar option worked well, but I didn’t get much time in the water since we weren’t sure if Alma was comfortable. I noticed that the stroller isn't ideal for naps because of the heat, and she gets restless at night.

Day 2 : Corfu Town & Center of Corfu

Morning : We had breakfast at Strezei Miel and headed to Sissi Palace, but due to system troubles and long queues in the heat, the palace was closed.

Afternoon: We went to Pazuzu Beach Club, which we liked. The beach is sandy, and the restaurant has bean bags for those who prefer not to stay on the sunbeds in the heat. The food was great.

Evening : We took a quick nap then dinner at The Venetian Well

Since the beach club worked well for all of us, we considered the day a success. However, our daughter had too little nap time. She slept in the car on the way to Sissi Palace, woke up when we arrived at Pazuzu Beach, fell asleep again on the drive back to the hotel, and woke up during the transfer from the car to her stroller. This resulted in a restless baby during our Michelin dinner experience.

Day 3 : Corfu Town & Paleokastritsa

Morning: Visited Corfu Aquarium and had a pricey, self-service lunch at Seacret Café Bar. The experience was mediocre, but my daughter enjoyed seeing marine life.

Afternoon: Swam in the hotel pool and took a quick nap.

Evening: Went to Fisherman Cabin, a beautiful spot but a stressful journey due to poor roads.

In hindsight, I regretted our morning activities while waiting for our room

Day 4 : Paleokastritsa

Morning: Enjoyed a submarine experience followed by a relaxing swim at the hotel.

Afternoon: My daughter had a much-needed 4-hour nap.

Evening: Spent a wonderful time at Akron Beach Club, swimming and having dinner. The beautiful water, pleasant crowd, and serene music made for a perfect evening. Alma loved swimming in the sea at sunset.

Day 5: Paleokastritsa & The South

Morning: Visited the stunning Monastery, then headed to Governor’s Mill Olive. While the products were great, the 1-hour drive and long tour weren’t ideal for a toddler. It's better to buy olive oil in Corfu Town, where tastings are also available.

Afternoon: Relaxed at Agios Gordios Beach with its golden sand and beautiful water. However, the lack of functioning showers and only tavernas with sunbeds made it less than ideal for us.

Evening: Had dinner at Tavernas Boulis in Lakones. Despite its reputation, we found the food just okay and a bit pricey for the quality.

The following three days in Acharavi were spent in a real slow motion. We realized that the best days are when our daughter has her naps and when we had a comfortable swim in an open sea. That plus nice grilled fish were the best days.

We definitely love Corfu and would like to come back!
